You can use the REGISTER link to sign up for the waiting list for either this morning Herb Walk or for the afternoon Herb Walk on February 21 or both. I keep a record of date and time of waiting list signups to be as fair as possible in filling any spaces that may open up. I will let you know ASAP by email if a space opens up for you. If it happens in the last 24-48 hours prior to the workshop\, I will text you from 805-797-2072.\nREGISTER\nJoin me on Presidents’ Day morning\, February 21\, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for an Herb Walk on San Antonio Creek Trail in Goleta. Scheduled on a Monday for the weekend warriors\, this affordable\, family-friendly walk will include identifying\, demonstrating and discussing the many uses of wild plants by foragers\, herbalists\, and naturalists seeking them out for food\, herbal medicine\, first aid\, home remedies\, survival\, crafts\, ceremony and more. This time of year we can expect to find California Bay\, Miner’s Lettuce\, Mugwort\, Hummingbird Sage\, Black Sage\, Chickweed and Italian Thistle\, among others. Toxic plants such as Poison Oak and Poison Hemlock will also be identified. \nMiner’s Lettuce. Photo by Angelina Sanchez\nTrailside discussion will include sustainable foraging\, Chumash plant uses\, and other topics generated by the participants. This slow-paced walk is suitable for hikers of all levels able to walk less than 2 miles round-trip and stand for periods of time. Participants will receive an email afterwards with a plant list (including common and scientific names) and other useful notes. \nPlease note: This walk will take place RAIN OR SHINE unless there is a steady downpour that morning. \nThis event is full.
