DESCRIPTION:9th National Heirloom Expo\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe National Heirloom Expo is America’s largest celebration of pure food and heirloom gardening\, and it is returning to the Ventura County Fairgrounds September 10-12\, 2024. \n\n\n\nThe Expo offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn from some of the best minds working in gardening\, health\, non-GMO activism\, heirloom seed protection and preservation\, permaculture\, and regenerative soil practices. \n\n\n\nThis year’s speakers include gardening expert John Kohler and long-time medical doctor Dr. Jeff Pierce; anti-GMO activist Rachel Parent; permaculture expert Nikky Schauder; renowned herbalists Susan Belsinger and Tina Marie Wilcox; and author and seed saver Bevin Cohen. \n\n\n\nA larger\, second speaker hall has been added for 2024 and will feature talks by local experts\, roundtable discussions\, and workshops. At 1:00 p.m.  on Tuesday\, September 10\, in McBride Hall local Ojai author Lanny Kaufer will speak about medicinal plants found in his book\, Medicinal Herbs of California\, that can be grown locally. \n\n\n\nProduce is the real star of the show at the expo\, and a trip around the fairgrounds is like an international adventure in heirloom seeds and vegetables. The Expo Hall features hundreds of heirloom vegetables\, fruits\, herbs\, and flowers\, plus exhibits\, fruit carvers\, and more! \n\n\n\nEnjoy healthy food\, entertainment\, and a vendor hall with offerings including natural home- and garden-related products\, clothing\, books\, and seeds. \n\n\n\nHighlights include: \n\n\n\n\nHeirloom seed swap each day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.\n\n\n\nHeirloom tomato and watermelon tastings each day in the Expo Hall\n\n\n\nChildren’s hall with hands-on\, educational activities\n\n\n\nHeritage breed poultry show\, with judging all day on Tuesday\, September 10\n\n\n\n\nA one-day pass is $15. Three-day passes are available for $30. All profits benefit school garden and food programs.
