DESCRIPTION:Free Author Event at Timbre Books\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPlease join me and herbalist Jiling Lin at Timbre Books in Ventura for a conversation about my 2021 book from Falcon Guides\, Medicinal Herbs of California: A Field Guide to Common Healing Plants. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore my process of writing the book and\, among other topics\, the criteria used to decide which of the hundreds of medicinal herbs growing wild in California to include in a one-pound field guide designed for carrying in a backpack. We’ll discuss the whys and hows of sustainable foraging and the ways in which the book promotes environmental awareness. He holds a biology degree from UC Santa Cruz and is the author of Medicinal Herbs of California: A Field Guide to Common Healing Plants (Falcon Guides\, 2021). Lanny hosts the Ojai Herbal Symposium\, most recently held in Krotona Hall in November 2023\, and scheduled to return on May 30\, 2026. Lanny is on the faculty of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at California State University\, Channel Islands.
