Miner’s Lettuce Ingenuity in Sisar Canyon

Today, on an Herb Walk in Sisar Canyon, we saw this Miner’s Lettuce plant (Claytonia perfoliatum) happily flowering away in a Coast Live Oak snag about 5 feet above the ground. There was no dirt visible anywhere around it.

As a gardener I have a great love for and appreciation of plants but you have broadened my horizons with some knowledge of the healing properties of plants. Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon.
