Thank you for leading a terrific herb walk on a perfect day. In all my years in Ventura County, that was my first venture into the Potrero. I was immediately struck by the awe inspiring view of Mt. Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon. Admittedly, I probably know less about botany than anyone else on the hike. The PDF document you attached will reinforce all of the in-field learning.

The herb walk conducted by Lanny Kaufer was immensely enjoyable and an unforgettable experience. His enjoyment and enthusiasm encourages you to go out in nature and see the natural world for what it is worth. You would hardly even know that the plants in your own backyard have specific uses both herbally , medicinally, and beauty. His herb walks makes you look at the world around you in a whole new way and that native and non-native plants in your own backyard have so much value and should be appreciated. You learn valuable skills in how to properly identify plants and what plants to avoid if you are hiking by yourself or with others.
