Please join me and my wife Rondia on Sunday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for our second Ojai Wild Food Experience. The day will begin with a morning foraging expedition on the grounds of Euterpe Farms’ outdoor study area overlooking the Ventura River Preserve. After the foraging walk and a mid-day break, hands-on food processing activities will take place in Fisher Hall at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ojai to prepare a vegetarian community meal. Everyone will have a chance to participate in all activities.

Participants will learn to:

• identify and forage edible plants of the season
• make a salad with wild greens and flowers gathered on the property
• prepare a pasta dish with wild herbs gathered on the property
• process acorns for making acorn tortillas
• prepare elderflower fritters for dessert
• process wild black walnuts to top off the meal

There may be other activities, depending on seasonal foods and supplies available.  I will have my book, Medicinal Herbs of California, available for sale and signing after the meal along with my entire mobile bookshop.

Note: Online payment includes a PayPal fee. If you prefer, when you register you can request instructions for mailing a payment of $55/adult or $25/child under 18 (limit: one child per adult).

If the event sells out, PayPal will not accept your payment. You will see a message that says this event “is not available at this time” and you will be returned to this page. If that happens, email register@herbwalks.com to sign up for the waiting list. If spaces become available they will be filled based on date and time of waiting list signup.

Cancellation policy: We will refund your payment if you notify us up to 72 hours (3 days) before the start of the event. After that we will make every effort to fill your space but cannot guarantee it.
