Please join me for a Fall Fungi Herb Walk with special guest Raskal Turbeville at the Ojai Meadows Preserve on Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. We will explore oak and eucalyptus forest in search of Chicken of the Woods, Turkey-Tail and other fungi of the season. Naturally, we will identify and discuss edible and medicinal plants along the way.

No dogs or smoking, please.

MY WEATHER POLICY: Walks and hikes will go on RAIN OR SHINE unless there is a steady downpour on the morning of the event, probability of thunderstorm, or a solid forecast of either the day before. Light rain or drizzle will not result in cancellation on my part. I will update registrants by email and text, as needed, and issue refunds if I need to cancel because of the weather.

ABOUT THE OJAI MUSHROOM SUMMIT:
The Ojai Mushroom Summit is an eight-day gathering bringing together mycologists, cultivators, scientists, chefs, farmers, healers, artists, educators, builders, entrepreneurs, storytellers and the fungi-curious for a week of learning, making, eating, connecting and celebrating.

ABOUT RASKAL TURBEVILLE:
Raskal Turbeville is a soil ecologist, Mycology consultant, homesteader, and educator based in Rochester WA who focuses on exhuming the patterning, functionality, and gifts of fungi in agricultural systems and ecological stewardship. Inspired to dedicate himself to the fungal world as a teenager, Raskal has spent the last 14 years cultivating, foraging, and teaching about fungi in an attempt to bring our communities into a deeper and more holistic relationship with these distressingly under appreciated organisms. Raskal runs Soil Ecology Analytics, a soil health and mycology consultation service focused on regenerating soil microbial communities and repairing our relationship with fungi in Washington State and beyond.

ABOUT LANNY KAUFER:
Lanny Kaufer of HerbWalks.com is celebrating 50 years of leading herb walks in 2026. He has been leading herb walks, nature hikes, and workshops in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties since 1976, educating hundreds of residents and visitors on the edible and medicinal flora of the area.
