June Nearly-Full Moon Sunset Herb Walk: June 3, 2020

On Wednesday evening, June 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., I’ll lead a Nearly-Full Moon Sunset Herb Walk to a vista point above the Ojai Valley where we can watch the simultaneous moonrise and sunset. The nearly-full moon will rise at about 6:20 p.m. and the sun will start to set at 7:30 p.m., giving us a nice window of time to take it all in. Attendance will be limited to 10 participants, face coverings will be required, and we will maintain 6 feet of physical distance at all times. There will be no onsite book sales but I will offer free shipping for online orders of $25 or more for participants at this walk. Anyone with possible COVID-19 symptoms is asked stay home. A refund will be issued if you notify me of cancellation.
We’ll meet at the Shelf Road trailhead at the top of N. Signal Street between 4:45 and 5:00 p.m. Then we’ll gradually walk about 1.25 miles to the vista point, stopping along the way to meet some valuable native plants, including:
Coastal Sagebrush
Toyon
Black Walnut
Prickly-Pear
Elderberry
Purple Sage and
Hollyleaf Cherry
After witnessing the rising of the moon and setting of the sun, we’ll walk back to the trailhead as close together as possible by remaining daylight, moonlight, and flashlight, returning to the trailhead by 7:30 or 8:00 p.m.

The cost for the walk is $25. Please use the REGISTER button at top or bottom of this page to sign up before completing your payment with the PayPal button to secure your space. Once you register you will receive instructions to mail a check if you prefer to not use PayPal. Paid reservations are non-refundable unless I receive your cancellation with enough time to fill your space or if you must cancel due to possible COVID-19 symptoms, in which case you will receive a refund.
Paid registrants will receive a confirmation email with all necessary info, including weather forecast and parking directions, a few days prior to the walk. Light rain will not cancel. Heavy rain will. Participants will also receive a follow-up email afterwards with a list of all plants and wildlife seen. No dogs or smoking, please.
