This Lunch and Learn talk on “Edible and Medicinal Plants of Arroyo Hondo Preserve” is open and free to the public but those interested must email Jennifer Stroh at jstroh@sblandtrust.org to reserve a seat as the room has limited seating. The Lunch and Learns are from 12:30pm-1:30pm next door from the Land Trust office at 1528 Chapala St., Room 305.

The talk will be followed by an optional walk at Arroyo Hondo on Sunday, February 2, 2020. See a separate event listing here to sign up for the walk.

I got laurel sumac, holly-leaved cherry, chamise (I liked what you told us about it being a good firewood in wet weather), poison oak, toyon, basketbush, desert sage, madrone, and manzanita. Thank you for leading a terrific herb walk on a perfect day. In all my years in Ventura County, that was my first venture into the Potrero. I was immediately struck by the awe inspiring view of Mt. Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon. Admittedly, I probably know less about botany than anyone else on the hike. The PDF document you attached will reinforce all of the in-field learning.
