Please note: This event is presented by the Conservation Endowment Fund, stewards of Taft Gardens & Nature Preserve. Please join me for a natural history walk at Taft Gardens & Nature Preserve on Saturday, February 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, meeting at 9:45 a.m. We will explore trails through the wild parts of the property, identify and discuss native plants, and observe birds and animal tracks in the context of local ecology. This event is a perfect fit with my personal mission to open a space for people to connect with the natural world, starting with the plant community. And Taft Gardens is an amazing place!

The $35 cost includes a $10 donation to benefit the Conservation Endowment Fund, the non-profit steward of Taft Gardens & Nature Preserve. The donation portion of the fee is tax-deductible. Space is limited so register today at this Taft Gardens link or email taftgardensvisitors@gmail.com.

Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon. Admittedly, I probably know less about botany than anyone else on the hike. The PDF document you attached will reinforce all of the in-field learning.

I enjoyed the herb walk very much, and learned many things. As a gardener I have a great love for and appreciation of plants but you have broadened my horizons with some knowledge of the healing properties of plants. Many of the ones we saw will find a place in my garden! A part of the day that I particularly enjoyed was the blessing and welcome song at the bay tree before beginning our walk.
