Herb Walks 50-Year Anniversary Garden Party
June 27 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Celebrate a half-century of nature connection! You are cordially invited to a morning garden party at the Ojai Valley Museum as we mark the 50th anniversary of “Herb Walks with Lanny Kaufer.”
This milestone event takes place in the beautiful Chumash Garden, a space dedicated to the native flora of our region. As the garden’s consultant, I will lead a short, insightful tour to share the stories, uses, and ecology of the plants growing there.
Among the important and useful native plants used by the Chumash, we’ll see:
- Mugwort (molɨsh)
- White Sage (khapshɨkh)
- Elderberry (qayas)
- Hollyleaf and Catalina Cherry (‘akhtatapɨsh)
- Mountain-Mahogany (pɨch)
- Yarrow (yepunash)
- and many more
Whether you have been joining walks since the 1970s or are just beginning your botanical journey, please join us for a relaxed morning of community and gratitude.
