Please join me online via Zoom on Wednesday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m. for a free one-hour slideshow talk on my book, Medicinal Herbs of California: A Field Guide to Common Healing Plants. I will talk a little about how I wrote the book and identify and discuss some plants from the book that can be found in the vicinity of Torrance and in the surrounding area of the L.A. basin and Southern California (Tongva and Chumash land). Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon. Thank you so much for the picture!! What a great memory. I also wanted to thank you for the walk. For me, it was a great introduction to the numerous plants in the area. I knew I should’ve been taking notes, but didn’t want to hold up my husband and daughter, so of course I’m drawing some blanks when I look at my photos, mainly for the shrubs. I got laurel sumac, holly-leaved cherry, chamise (I liked what you told us about it being a good firewood in wet weather), poison oak, toyon, basketbush, desert sage, madrone, and manzanita. Now I just have to go through and “study” them. The “flowers” I think I have under control. Thanks again so much. We loved Ojai.
