“The High Road” CD

Hi! You probably know me from Herb Walks and as the host of workshops and the Ojai Herbal Symposium. I’m also a singer/songwriter steeped in political/social activism going back to my volunteer service in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s SCOPE Project in the South in 1965. My album, “The High Road,” released in 2004, represents my worldview put to music. Some of the songs were originally written as far back as the late 1970s for use in Illusions Theatre productions in Ojai and Santa Barbara. Produced by Cody LePow and executive-produced by me and my brother Michael Kaufer, the album was recorded at Sound Asylum in Canoga Park by engineers David Williams and Steve Werbelow, mixed by Cody LePow and David Williams, and mastered by David Williams. In addition to special guest vocalist, the late June Pointer of the legendary Pointer Sisters, the recording features an A-list of Southern California’s musical and vocal talent.

Thank you for leading a terrific herb walk on a perfect day. In all my years in Ventura County, that was my first venture into the Potrero. I was immediately struck by the awe inspiring view of Mt. Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon. Admittedly, I probably know less about botany than anyone else on the hike. The PDF document you attached will reinforce all of the in-field learning.

I would highly recommend an excursion with Lanny. We found it especially helpful to meet up with Lanny at the beginning of our trip, as it made our future hikes more fulfilling.
