I am especially impressed with your expansive coverage of the science involved and double checking your historical sources. Up until now, I’ve never seen anyone do that before. All the rest just repeat the same old stories about native plant use without any effort to see if the stories actually hold up to scrutiny. And your thorough treatment of each species is excellent. My husband and I have moved up to Northern CA so I’m sad to say I won’t be participating in future Herb Walks. However, I’ll always remember fondly your wonderful sharing of herbal plants and medicine with the community. I learned so much from you and it was a joy to be with like-minded folks. I got laurel sumac, holly-leaved cherry, chamise (I liked what you told us about it being a good firewood in wet weather), poison oak, toyon, basketbush, desert sage, madrone, and manzanita.
