Lanny’s herb walks have opened my eyes to the many traditional herbs and plants that are available around Ojai and how the local Chumash Indians used them. His deep botanical knowledge has also inspired me to learn and study more the names of the plants and trees growing in Southern California. Thank you for leading a terrific herb walk on a perfect day. In all my years in Ventura County, that was my first venture into the Potrero. I was immediately struck by the awe inspiring view of Mt. Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon. Admittedly, I probably know less about botany than anyone else on the hike. The PDF document you attached will reinforce all of the in-field learning.

A special thank you for the tribute to our nation’s veterans. You sang an inspiring song I will always remember.
