Thank you so much for the picture!! What a great memory. I also wanted to thank you for the walk. For me, it was a great introduction to the numerous plants in the area. I knew I should’ve been taking notes, but didn’t want to hold up my husband and daughter, so of course I’m drawing some blanks when I look at my photos, mainly for the shrubs. I got laurel sumac, holly-leaved cherry, chamise (I liked what you told us about it being a good firewood in wet weather), poison oak, toyon, basketbush, desert sage, madrone, and manzanita. Now I just have to go through and “study” them. The “flowers” I think I have under control. Thanks again so much. We loved Ojai.

Many of the ones we saw will find a place in my garden! A part of the day that I particularly enjoyed was the blessing and welcome song at the bay tree before beginning our walk. Not only was it a lovely ceremony, but pausing for those few minutes gave me a chance to really look at the tree and notice its structure, the moss at the base, and the other plants around it. Haddock framed by complex sedimentary rock walls forming the canyon. I was a little surprised at the diversity of the flora in the canyon.
