Garlic!
Soapbox alert! Due to our archaic drug laws — kept in place by mining, petroleum, and pharmaceutical companies — other countries are far ahead of us in the field of plant pharmacology. To wit, this study from the Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences: “Garlic Beats Best-Selling Blood Pressure Drug In New Study.” My point is not that this study provides irrefutable proof of garlic’s effectiveness. More studies are needed to establish that. My point is, will these studies take place in the U.S., too? Will true health reform trump politics in the public’s best interests?
NOTE: This has been one in an occasional series of political soapbox “rants” on subjects near and dear to this herbalist-naturalist-environmentalist’s heart. Thanks to East-West Herb School for making us aware of this article published by GreenMedInfo.
