On page 15, you will find Hummingbird Sage, recommended for planting under Oaks. Of course, you would not plant anything within 6 feet of the trunk to prevent root rot fungus. Here is a photo of Hummingbird Sage growing under the canopy of our Coast Live Oak in the front yard. If you’ve seen what it looks like in the wild this time of year, you can appreciate how attractive it can be with a little extra water and some TLC.
