Kirkwood, CA in the Eldorado National Forest

Last weekend, I had the great honor and pleasure of officiating at the wedding of Ben and Lisa Grangereau at an incredibly beautiful place called The Hideout. It’s 13 miles further up Highway 88 into the High Sierra from the Kirkwood Ski Resort southwest of Lake Tahoe. I stayed in Kirkwood Meadows and found time to do some hiking and botanizing there as well as on the Red Cliffs Trail and at The Hideout. It was cool to be in another region with lots of plants I’m not that familiar with or don’t see very often. Knowing my plant families really helped to ID a lot of the new ones.
