An April doubleheader coming up this weekend

Baseball season is starting up and, fittingly, we have a doubleheader for you. First, come on up to Wheeler Gorge Visitor Center this Saturday, April 11, for a Nature Walk on the Wheeler Gorge Nature Trail. It’s part of the Visitor Center’s annual Open House that runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The walk is from 12:30 to 2:00. The Open House is free and the walk is offered at a special rate of $10 per person. Rondia and I will have our mobile bookstore set up and there will be many other displays and activities for you and your family.

Then on Sunday, we’ll travel to other side of the valley — the East End — for an Herb Walk in Horn Canyon. This is prime time for flowers, butterflies and honeybees. The weather forecast looks fantastic, the wildflowers are having a great year, and it’s always beautiful there anytime. The usual Herb Walk price of $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students applies to this event.
